Here is what equine fusion say: The Ultra sole is made of an improved rubber compound which combines the maximum strength needed for excellent wear resistance, with the softness required to give the flexibility and shock absorption the hoof needs to function as normal. The Ultra has increased stability for the hoof wall and better shock absorption on hard surfaces. This has been achieved by increasing the thickness of the solid rubber (1.25mm) to improve the dampening effect, whilst reducing the height of the tread around the outer edge of the sole to keep the overall sole thickness the same. The Ultra tread pattern also gives the shoe more flexibility in the center of the sole for maximum frog pressure, improved balance and breakover. Brand new pair of Equine Fusion Performance hoof boots size 15. Bought to support my barefoot horse on longer rides but sadly he has had to be retired before they could be used. The Equine Fusion Performance 'Jogging Shoe' is the latest offering on the hoof boot market from Equine Fusion of Norway and sits alongside the original product, the Ultra, in their range. The Performance, with a new sole pattern, is designed for rougher terrain, providing better grip off-road and in snow or mud, whereas the Ultra  is particularly suited to riding on hard surfaces such as asphalt. Jogging Shoes are virtually unique amongst hoof boots in that they offer performance as close as possible to the equine hoof, allowing movement on a three-way axis. This boot is a small size and measures 12cms across the width and 14 cms from toe to heel. These measurements are taken on the outside of the boot It was too small for my Section B but OK for my Dartmoor. It has never been used - just tried on.
