I have gained more confidence lately after learning to tie him up to mount, so that stops him walking backwards and the last time he took me towards the hedge I managed to turn him and drag him back through so really pleased with myself. The bit also seems a lot more comfortable for him. Riding out has returned to be enjoyable again and very rewarding so thanks. I am not sure if they are an 8 or 9 (UK sizing) look more like 9's Worn vintage quality leather with no rips, gauges or stains.  Full leather soles show signs of wear, especially on the heel of the left boot. Overall excellent quality boots in lovely leather which would be around £500 to have made today.
