Pelham- 4 1/2'' with curb chain and strap, great condition. The Hard rubber pelham is about the most popular variety of pelham, and the modern alternative to the vulcanite pelhams. The hard rubber coating softens the action of the curved mullen mouth of this pelham bit giving space for the tongue, with no collapse on the bars and no real palate pressure.  Hard rubber pelhams are best suited to horse that have enough space for a large mouthpiece and are ideal for novice riders using a stronger bit for the first time as the mouth is so mild. Pelhams are designed to be used with two reins, the 'snaffle' rein on the larger ring which should have a constant contact, and the curb rein is attached to the smaller loose bottom ring and is used when needed. The small hole in the shank just above the curb ring is for a lip strap, not essential but correct for showing and helps to keep the curb chain flat.  If the rider wishes to use only one pair of reins, roundings can be used to join the snaffle and curb rings together and the reins go on the loop of leather to give an action on both mouthpiece and curb when the rein is pulled. Well used youngster bit but plenty of life left in it cm straight bar made from tough rigid rubber/plastic which is easy for babies to accept. Small neat brass rings look good on youngster heads My boy wore this for inhand shows and for going on walks out and about, never had an issue with it gave him a great start to the world of bitting, he now reaches out to take his grown up bit! Good used condition, some slight chew signs on the rubber and a little greening on one spot of the ring but nothing a bit of brasso wont fix, no rips or sharp parts Cleaned and disinfected **The boring bits** Please pay within 1-2 days of winning the auction.  The postage option available is Hermes, to keep costs down and their drop off options mean I can get your parcels posted much faster.
