IT IS VERY HIGH QUALITY JOINTED RUGBY PELHAM horse pony riding bits  jointed mouth rugby pelham has a single jointed mouthpiece which acts on the bars and sometimes the palate of the horses mouth. The broken mouthpiece can effect the way the curb comes into play and lessen the direct action of the curb, but putting more pressure on the bars of the mouth and possibly the palate. The jointed rugby pelham can be good for horses that tend to put their head down as the jointed mouthpiece often has the effect of raising the horses head. Pelham bits are designed to be used with two reins, the 'snaffle' rein on the larger ring which should have a constant contact, and the curb rein is attached to the smaller loose bottom ring and is used when needed. A big collection of what i assume to be very old horse riding tack, there are 4 or 5 sections with big loops that look like they go over the neck. 2 or 3 big heavy horse neck loop things and loads and loads of other staps, loops buckles and mouth bits. Everything in photos is in the auction i would prefer to sell as a whole. This will fill an estate car. This is all old heavy leather with many a brass buckle,shackle etc. The padding on the bigger bits is not useable. From what i can work out it was once probably 4 sets for a funeral cart many a year ago and 1 shackle has the old name formed/moulded/engraved into it.
