Upgraded Desktop pc
I am a hobby PC builder and bought this Asus essentio series pc second hand with the sole purpose of upgrading it. Specs of this pc -Intel core i5 quad core processor 2.8ghz (very good processor) -samsung evo 250gb SSD (one of the best ssds on the market) -1tb barracuda harddrive -patriot viper 2x4gb ram mhz (very good ram) -good Asus motherboard with plenty of space for upgrade I ran some checks over it all and I decided what needed upgrading. The list of what I have done to this pc is down below. General care -cleaned out all the insides. -replaced the SATA wires, too keep it running fast. -cleaned the CPU and heatsink, and applied new thermal paste to ensure adequate cooling. -organised the cables to ensure better airflow in the case. -replaced silver screws with black for a better general astehtic. -replaced silver slots for black ones with holes for better airflow. New parts -barely used WiFi wireless adapter, still have drive disk (cost £10) put in so you don't need a Ethernet cable. -brand new patriot viper ram 2x4gb sticks mhz speed (cost £45) put into speed up everyday tasks and make the computer fresher. -brand new Samsung SSD evo 250gb (cost £80) put in the computer to make it super fast and speed up everything, this makes the computer turn on in 3 seconds and makes everything load so much faster -used 1tb harddrive (cost £35 new) put in so the computer has more memory and you can store things that don't need to run fast on this drive. -brand new Corsair cxm 450 watt power supply (cost £47) the old power supply meant there wasn't enough wattage to upgrade the pc in the future, this one is also semi modular and rated good on efficiency. My general thoughts on this pc, this is a very fast computer after having the SSD and ram upgrades, everything loads super quick which is brilliant. You could buy a £40 graphics card and turn this into a capable gaming machine, it is already capable of running some lower demanding games. It has alot of storage which is great, gb in total so you won't run out. This is a great pc to buy grab a bargain, you won't be disappointed. Read More
