One of the first photo books about the labour and concentration camps of the Germans. With horrible photos of the victims and perpetrators, made after the liberation of various concentration camps by various war photographers. Compiled by and with an introduction of the Dutch war photographer Willem van der Poll.Willem van de Poll was accredited by the press agency P.W.D. Shaef Mission Netherlands and was in a position to take these often gruesome photos in the slipstream of the British and American armies. Most photos are from concentration camps in the western part of Germany and Austria. Bergen-Belsen, Dachau, Buchenwald, Langenstein, Mauthausen and Schwabmuenchen. Van der Poll later became renowned as army photographer during the police actions in the Dutch Indies and later on the Dutch Antilles. Read More

Top and bottom slightly retouched to avoid fraying. Text block is intact, browned, reasonably good quality paper, Without foxing or smudges. Binding is firm, block is firm in the binding. One tape repair removed and replaced with a tip-in. Name on the title page. Flyleaves are somewhat fragile.Emanuel Swedenborg (), a scientist born in Stockholm, was also a statesman, philosopher, a famous and controversial theologian and mystic. In contrast with the then prevailing time spirit, the Enlightenment and Reformation, Swedenborg described an almost theosophical world vision. His vision also collided with a few Roman catholic doctrines. His book “Heaven and Hell” is his most renowned work, and was published in in London.
