Good condition but obviously 20+ years old. 23 inch seatpost, i.e. quite a large frame. Very lightweight Reynolds 531 butted tubing. Shimano Exage 400 Biopace crankset. Shimano Exage brake levers. Shimano Exage 400 derailleurs. Shimano indexed downtube gears. Brakes were upgraded to Campagnolo Veloce dual pivot for greater strength and better centering. Wheels: Specialized hubs & quick release bolts with Alex DA16 rims. Rear wheel has a slight dink in the rim (see photo) but I have not had any problems with it. Tyres are gatorskin at rear (but quite tired) and Vittoria Zaffiro at front. Dawes handlebars and stem. Wellgo pedals. Selle seat. Vintage Ken Bird lightweight racing bike - Reynolds 531 tubing

Selling my much loved s Ken Bird racing bike. I bought it used and am only selling because I haven't got on using the tube shifters. It rides beautifully, is super fast and everything works perfectly, but could do with a clean. It is showing signs of use, a few scratches here and there but nothing major for a bike that's 30+ years old. The majority of the bike is original. But here are the specs anyway: Very lightweight, Reynolds 531 tubing. Shimano Arabesque 600 rear derailleur. Shimano 60 front derailleur. Shimano Golden Arrow tube shifters. Mavic MAc rims. Schwalbe Lugano tyres. Cinelli Campione del Mondo handlebars. Bluemels "popular" mudguards. Cambio Rino headset. Not sure of the exact frame size/height. But I'm 6ft with 32" legs and I wouldn't want the bike any bigger. The seat looks knackered but is pretty comfortable. The mudguard is missing the original nut/bolt on the front side, (pictured) and what I've replaced it with doesn't really work, so have taped it up to stop it from rattling whilst riding, wouldn't take much effort to fix properly. An absolutely lovely bike, a quick google of Ken Bird will bring up some interesting stuff, but seems he was based in/around Orpington for many years. Price is negotiable. Lightweight Reynolds 531 frame racer, vintage era bike and would have been quite expensive when new. Has a triple chainset, so has the same sort of gearing as a mountain bike, allowing you to get up hills easier. Nice condition with lightweight wheels, decent tyres and fully working. Only downside is something fell on it an dented the frame, this doesn't affect it and doesn't change how it rides, it just lets it down cosmetically. It's pretty light and benefits from having had a complete service and the addition of a more modern groupset. On the road it's a very comfortable and capable cycle, nice and fast and sporty-feeling. I built this bike for a friend to do a 60-mile bike ride in aid of cancer awareness last year and now she's completed it, it's surplus to requirements. Prior to the bike ride, I updated it with Suntour AR Derailleurs/levers from the 's and also a Stronglight chainset. The bike now has 12 speeds. The bike has 27" Weinmann alloy wheels with quick release, Sake Custom Road Champion alloy dropped handlebars and a black leather Madison saddle.
