This machine has seen light use in a non smoking/no pets studio and has been stored in the carry case when not in use. Very sad to see her go, amazing all round piece of gear, i have used it as a polyphonic synth just as much as a drum machine, the variation of sounds you can produce is truly incredible and the on-the-fly sequencing and editing makes for a great tool for a live set up. Analog synth - MFB Synth II. monophonic synthesizer

Selling my MFB-Synth II, this is a great monophonic analog synthesizer made in Germany by Manfred Fricke. Sad to see it go but I haven't properly used it for a couple of years and someone else deserves the chance to make weird & wonderful noises with it. It's a monosynth with 3 VCOs, 2 envelope generators and a really nice filter. Has presets, sequencer and MIDI capability. Also has an odd wee button keyboard (that doubles as a preset selector) if you want to try out ideas on the go. All in it's a great wee synth that is very portable. Here's some blurb I nicked off a website: The MFB 'Synth II' is a monophonic synthesizer module. It uses analogue circuits which are voltage controlled for oscillators, filters and amplification. The synthesizer is controlled by MIDI, CV/Gate or the integrated step sequencer which can hold up to 25 sequences with 32 steps each. The VCO sections contain three individual oscillators that are scaled to the volt/octave standard. The selectable waveforms are sawtooth, square and triangle. VCO2 offers an additional impulse wave and pulse width control for the square wave. The octave can be set between 4', 8' and 16' or 32'. An additional detune amount of plus/minus one octave can be set for VCO2 and VCO3. The VCOs can either be modulated by an LFO or VCO3. VCO1 can be set to 'sync' and two digital ring modulations are available as VCO1+2 and VCO2+3. The mixer allows level control of all oscillators plus noise and the level of the external audio input. The lowpass filter is a resonant 24 dB/octave design. Emphasis (resonance) can be set up to self-oscillation. The cutoff frequency can be automodulated by an LFO or by a VCO. 'Key' controls the influence of the keyboard pitch on the cutoff parameter (Keyboard scaling). Both VCF and VCA have their proprietary envelope generators with 'Attack', 'Decay', 'Sustain' and 'Release' parameters. The VCA can also be modulated by an LFO for characteristic tremolo effects. The waveforms offered are sawtooth, rectangle, triangle and random. These can be set to 'One Shot' mode to be used as simple envelopes. The 'Synth II' has 50 preset- and 49 memory locations. The synthesizer will respond to incoming velocity data (MIDI). The velocity information can be used to control either VCF cutoff or VCA level. Pitch- and Modulation wheel are both recognized. Akai AX60 Polyphonic Synth

classic 6 voice analog polysynth from , some unusual features compared to similar synths from roland and korg: resonance is rather crazy and you can modulate the filter with the oscillators for some splattery modular-type weirdness. the lfo has saw, triangle, square & random settings, the arpeggiator has a programmable setting (besides the usual up / down / up/down), there's a separate lfo for the pwm only...also it's got in a socket in the back so you can plug an akai sampler (s612, s900 & s950 i think. i'll chuck in the 13-pin din connector you need) in to it and run the samples through the synths filter and mix it with the synth voices....and you can split the keyboard and have two different sounds going at the same time if you want. they seem to be fairly rare in europe but fairly common in america and i guess this came from there as it runs on 120 volts but comes with a step down transformer so it's ready to play. unfortunately this one has a few issues but is pretty much fully working...: the only thing on it that isn't working at all is the high pass filter fader. this has never troubled me as i don't find that feature particularly useful...the low pass filter works totally fine and that's where the fun's to be had. besides that, there's a few faders that act a bit jumpy sometimes and a few buttons that double trigger quite often. i would imagine that most of this could be sorted out by a good service but i've already got too much stuff so moving it on in this condition. cosmetically, there's a few scratches on the top panel and some of the block diagram has worn off a bit. there's a small dent in the back panel next to the output socket and the glass has come loose over the LED display. feel free to come and try it out, it's a lot of fun. swaps or part ex for other synth/drum machine type stuff considered.
