Hello:) My name is Ruth and iv been teaching piano for around 10 years. I learnt classically and did all my grades but found I still lacked confidence and comfortability when playing. So it became my mission to teach piano and music in a way that encourages creativity,improvisation and group playing. So, following all content from the classic grade tuition,I aim to cater lessons more around the student, what do you want to play, what do you like to listen to and what's going to be the best way for you. I use scales and classic exercises to show the beauty and possibility of improvising, not to turn everyone into composers but to build confidence and ease with the instrument. I do this by playing alot together aswell. For kids it's all about fun and noise and colours and games. Helping them build a love of music of all kinds and teaching them how to explore for themselves. I come to you to teach in the comfort of your own home and on your own instrument,this works brilliantly for kids and adults, alot can be said about feeling at home when learning something new. This term I plan on starting small concerts for the performance experience and for everyone to meet each other which I think is of great importance! I try and keep my rates flexible and affordable while factoring in my traveling to you, and am happy to discuss this further.
