Rare opportunity to own a unique piece of Rugby Union history I have recently acquired this stunning boardroom table from the former rugby World Cup offices at Twickenham Stadium, Webb Ellis House and, after much research, and with the help of World Rugby Head Office in Dublin, have found that it is one of the most significant examples of rugby related sporting memorabilia available anywhere in Europe. Some of the most important decisions in the history of the game were made around this table - most notably among many others the decision to go from amateurism to professional and, perhaps equally as significant and of more interest, planning of the first ever Rugby World Cup hosted jointly in Australia and New Zealand in was made around this table as were subsequent world cups including the most successful of all, the Rugby World Cup in England. Below I have included an email which was put together by Colum Lavery from World Rugby Head Office with the help of Alex Bray, Club Secretary at the East India Club in London, and Chris Tau, former Press Officer of the IRB before it became World Rugby attaining to the authenticity of the table and which will also be printed on it World Rugby Official Letterhead, framed and offered with the table. “World Rugby attest to the authenticity of this table having formally being located at the East India Club and the head office of World Rugby for the purposes of World Rugby Council and Committee Meetings.
