Arabic manuscript on paper - From the Ottoman Empire, or earlier - high-quality calligraphy and illumination - approx. 300 leaves, 600 pp. - handwritten crisp and elegant Naskh script in black ink on beige paper - 15 lines per page in blue and gilt bordered text panels with gilded accents - Dim. pages: cm - with two very fine illuminated opening pages - in traditional Islamic binding with stamps - The parts of the Koran are marked with gilded and coloured medallions in the margins - The suras and verses are marked with gilded accents - the Koran ends in an edited “du'a al-khatm”, but the name of the writer is deleted - The style, the illumination, decoration and calligraphy make this unquestionably an Ottoman Turkish Koran from the end of the 18th century - 100% authentic.Condition: excellent. Binding in perfect condition. Complete and solid. The interior is sometimes somewhat spotty, and restored with Japanese paper in some places, otherwise good.
