Charity Canal Walk for Brain Tumour Research and Support acr
The annual charity Canal Walk is back on Sunday 19 October, raising vital funds for Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS). The BTRS team want to brighten up those dark Autumn days by holding a charity Canal Walk, perfect for the whole family. The route will take in the picturesque, mainly flat and direct path along the Leeds Liverpool canal, starting and finishing at Wyther Lane in Leeds and offering walkers the choice of two distances - 10k or 10 mile. There will be refreshment stations along the route and to give our younger walkers an extra challenge, we have also added some brain games at each mile marker with prizes to be won! The route is suitable for walkers (adults and children) of any ability, wheelchairs, dogs and pushchairs. It is a brilliant walk for the whole family! There is a registration fee of £5 to take part in the event (under 10's free) which includes; route, refreshment stations, children's brain games. The money raised from this event will help provide support to patients and families across Yorkshire and the Humber region affected by a brain tumour as well as assisting in funding the Translational Neuro-Oncology Group at Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine who are dedicated to finding a cure. BTRS Events & Fundraising Manager Sorrell Coulson says "This is a wonderful event for the whole family to be part of. We encourage families to bring along their own picnics and really make a day of it. It's also a great feeling knowing that the money raised at this event is helping to support those affected by a brain tumour whilst also funding research to find a cure! " Whether you are a keen walker, fancy a day out with your family or simply enjoy a morning stroll, we would love you to join us for what promises to be a fabulous event.
