AKAI AA- hi-fi stereo tuner/amplifier - 120 watts RMS

This was Akai's top-of-the-range tuner/amplifier for several years and the most powerful they ever produced. Excellent condition, high specification, high performance, great sound. 120 watts per channel. The volume, balance and tone controls have no noise or crackling problems and the lamps, LEDs, dual power meters and tuning indicators work as you'd expect them to. Provision for 2 sets of speakers, a turntable, 2 tape decks (for cassette, reel-to-reel, CD, minidisc etc.) and AUX (for iPod, iPhone, mp3 player etc.). There are High and Low filters and the Bass, Mid Range and Treble tone controls offer independent adjustment for the left and right channels. The amplifier section sounds brilliant and has an impressive specification. The tuner section has very good reception on both AM and FM, a variable gain FM Mute button and the tuning flywheel is weighted and turns smoothly. Here for sale is my beloved MPC Classic Sampler. It has the full 32 meg and the 8 outputs board installed. The machine is in great condition for its age and virtually everything works, apart from the pitch slider that only works when it wants to and the cover for the on and off button is missing. The display is bright and the floppy works and all the buttons and the pads work. The only reason Im selling the machine is because I dont have the time to use it. Collection only please from Witham, Essex, CM8 area. I am also happy to look into delivery within Essex and surrounding areas - please send me a message to see if this will be possible. All in original boxes and original packing. DS in pristine condition, from the s, complete and fully working in all respects and including a rare plastic dust cover, modified to allow the 7 inch reels to be left in place and even run with the cover in situ. (The cover was originally of a poor design in that 7 inch reels had to be removed before it could be fitted in place.) The electronics of this particular machine have been modified to the same standard as the MkII, particularly the ever troublesome, unreliable input amplifier ICs originally used in the DS, being replaced by discrete components as in the MkII. Also twenty used-only-once 7 inch reel-to-reel tapes in good condition (of assorted brands including Ampex, EMI and Shamrock) are included in the price. (These are each selling elsewhere for between £3.50 and £12 so their inclusion is an added bonus.) 2 empty 7 inch reels are also included The users instructions and a service manual are also included. What a rare opportunity for such an excellent example of this outstanding vintage machine with all these additional goodies. Only selling due to moving abroad and we sadly cannot take everything with us. The DS MkII was a later improved version of the DS. They are 3-head machines, allowing direct monitoring of both channels of a stereo recording whilst it is being made.
