HONG KONG BANK NOTE THE one-cent note, introduced as an emergency measure during World War II because of a shortage of metal, was dispatched into the history books in with the announcement that it would no longer be legal tender after September 30. They had an important legal role in the settling of debts but the Hong Kong Monetary Authority disclosed that the stock of one-cent notes was running low and it was loath to print new ones as each one-cent note costs two cents to print. What made them pretty much unique and remarkable, however,was that they were only printed on one side and measured just 3.5 inches by 1.5 inches! I served with the British Army in Hong Kong in and I've just found this used note, bearing the picture of HM The Queen, amongst some old papers. It is now a collector's item and needs a good post-colonial home. Free postage. Read More
