I bought and used this camera from new. It has never been dropped or got wet, and has been kept in the Canon leather case throughout (which is also included along with this sale). Recently the camera stopped working – it failed to ‘read’ the full capacity of the memory card but would still take photographs, then the lens failed to open when the camera was switched on (but the menu functions from the back of the camera continued to work), then the menu screen stopped working. This all took place within the space of about half an hour. I also notice that the silver button to the right of the viewfinder has ‘dropped’ by about 0.5mm.
