Defence Medal, an original World War Two British Defence Medal

A BOXED ORIGINAL DEFENCE MEDAL ( to ) WITH RIBBON AND CERTIFICATE Awarded to MR A C D Penny of Hastings. Presented in original franked box and with ribbon and a note from the Home Secretary, Central Index, Home Office, Whitehall, SWI. The return address on the back of the box The medal shows the uncrowned head of King George VI. The reverse bears the Royal Crown resting on an oak tree, flanked by two lions above the words 'The Defence Medal', with the date top left and top right. The ribbon is orange coloured in the centre flanked by stripes of green to symbolise enemy attacks on Britain's green and pleasant land, with narrow black stripes to represent the black-out. I understand the Defence Medal was awarded to non-military personnel. This person was in the Intelligence Section of the Civil Defence throughout the war and in the subsequent years until the Civil Defence was disbanded.

As used by tank crews, the Airborne, and the RAF, The flask is in very good condition with only minor wear and few marks to the paint, Has one small dent on the side, The lid screws on and unscrews as it should, The label is still present on the front and still readable, The cork stopper is intact and in great shape, Inside is very clean, The inside glass looks to be in fantastic condition and free from any damage, Dated on the bottom, The flask is probably still usable. Here we have a very rare 100% original WW2 British RAF Spitfire P.8 Compass fully working order. The compass was used on the most famous plane of the last century. The RAF Spitfire.
