Double burner brass oil lamp in perfect working order.

A double burner brass oil lamp in lovely condition and perfect working order. It has new wicks and a replacement glass chimney. There is a lever on the side that brings a cover over the wicks. Not sure exactly what this is for, which is possibly to extinguish the flame (although you can do this by lowering the wicks with the height adjuster knobs) or it might be there just protect the top of the wicks and stop them drying out. I have tried to show this mechanism in the photos. I'm not sure how old it is but it appears to have had little use so my guess is that it's a modern reproduction. I rescued it from the local recycling centre about 8 years ago, gave it a clean, fitted new wicks, a chimney and some lamp oil to get it working. It has stood on a shelf unused ever since. It could do with a clean and polish but I can't stand polishing brass, which is why it's for sale! Read More

Antique Brass Paraffin Lamp ('s)

Antique Brass Parafin Lamp converted to electricity in the 's. It has the original White Opaque Glass Shade. It and the other one were originally used by my family as a paraffin lamps before the first world war. It would be wise owing to the age of the lamp to update the wiring, which is simply done. The original wire was simply connected to the bulb fitting and fastened to the metal frame along and up to the ceiling. It would be a question of fitting a new wire where the old one at present is and checking/fitting the old lamp fittings or replacing to similar new lamp fittings. If the purchaser wished to remove the wiring and electric fittings, it would be simply done by taking them off the lamp. It might be possible with help from an artisan expert to hunt down some authentic/original clear glass chimneys! Two available, similar but not a complete match. Quite happy to sell singly.
