Beautiful solid brass antique companion set, I have no idea what age it is, but my parents had it for decades and it was old when they bought it. As long as it has been in our family is has been used as a fireside ornament, so not much signs of ware. It is in really excellent condition, and it has been given a good clean and polish for selling. It comprises of a stand, with tongs, poker, brush and shovel, the top of each piece and the stand has a horses head, this screws off, so you can vary which way you display the set, like heads all pointing to the left, right etc. This really is a beautiful set and in all the years we have had it I have never seen another one like it. I think that originally it might of had a wooden plinth of some kind, years ago I stuck a metal base under the base to give it slightly more height and stop some of the pieces hitting the ground. The metal base that I permanently attached was originally the base of a candle holder glass lamp. Size: From the ground to the top 25" Each piece approx 22" Across base 5" One slight mark on base.
