Children and young people really engage with the popular graffiti art: Nugent Education gets ong>bookong>ed in: 1: primary schools 2: secondary Schools 3: colleges 4: youth clubs 5: any organisation that works with children, young people or adults These workshops encompass a variety of activities. For example, we often work on canvases, or decorate baseball caps with graffiti names. The participants learn about graffiti art by doing; taking a completed piece home. These workshops are bespoke, and all ages seem to really enjoy this genre. Our graffiti creator really knows how to engage children and young people! One of our most popular graffiti workshops is graffiti caps! Here, we decorate a white baseball cap with a graffiti logo the children do themselves. We begin by demonstrating what graffiti is and teaching some practical designs. They then transfer practised designs onto a cap (with material pens) creating a designer cap they get to keep. This is by far our most popular graffiti art workshop. Other graffiti workshops include creating a canvas or individual pieces using nice card, acrylic paints and brushes. This works our cheaper as many schools already have these materials. So we don't have to charge additional material costs. These workshops are also useful for embodying citizenship, anti bullying and other issues. By making the stylised words relative to a given topic, the topic is naturally embodied. Graffiti at one time had a reputation for being vandalism, but we teach how it is now an art form and that it is wrong to scrawl on buses or walls etc without permission. Another interesting graffiti workshop we do covers graphic novels. We create novels with graphics that children work on in small groups. This mixes literacy and art and is a fantastic educational arts activity. Graffiti workshops give a positive message, teaching participants graffiti art as an art form, only to be created where it's allowed. Artists ensure they use the safest materials. These graffiti art workshops can last one to two hours or longer if you are creating a graffiti mural.
