Lot with antique silver book clasps and decorations - 18th and 19th century. The lot consists of 17 items, together weighing approx. 200 grams. Condition: the clasps and decorations are generally in good condition. The clasps come in complete pairs. Some scattered remnants of paper of the book to which the items were attached. The fittings have been are used, so the silver is patinated. Some parts are slightly bent. A piece is missing from the corner pieces. Also two flowers from the corner pieces are gone. Cast Iron Victorian Book Press

I've used this in my leather workshop for the last year--actually for pressing books! And squashing anything that needed squashing. Mechanism is lively and smooth and light, finish is pretty good with no rust. Plates are unfinished so do get a bit of oxidisation occasionally but a rub with a bit of wet and dry sorts that:D The jaws are just wider than A4 size:D Lovely bit of useful kit that weighs a ton, so would prefer collection from LL15 near Ruthin.
