These perennial beauties require periodic maintenance to keep them looking their best. Water the Iceland poppy each time the top 1 to 2 inches of soil becomes dry. Fill the pot repeatedly with water until a steady stream begins to run out of the bottom drainage holes. Fertilise the Iceland poppy with a nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium water-soluble fertiliser every 14 days throughout the growing season. Mix 1 tablespoon of fertiliser with 1 gallon of water, stirring it with a stick until all the granules have dissolved. Apply the fertiliser directly into the pot, substituting it for a supplemental watering. Check both sides of the poppy's leaves each time you water for aphids, or small green to brown sucking insects. Spray infested poppy leaves with a steady stream of cool water to wash the insects away. Spray the poppy leaves with insecticidal soap or neem oil to eradicate large aphid populations. Deadhead Iceland poppy plants frequently to promote new blooms and stop the plant from spending energy to produce seed. Cut away flowers once they have dropped their petals or when their heads begin to hang downward. Cut through the base of the flower stem with a sharp pair of pruning shears. Iceland poppy can be planted in a container. 1.Plant Iceland poppies in containers in the early spring. Choose a container with drainage holes in the bottom. Fill the bottom one-third of the container with fast-draining potting soil. Place the Iceland poppy's root ball in the container, positioning its top 1 to 2 inches below the container's top. Space multiple plants 4 to 6 inches apart. Backfill the pot with soil, tamping it down gently around the roots. Fill the container with soil until the level is even with the top of the poppy's root ball. Water the container 2 to 3 times with a watering can ensure that the soil is completely moist. 2.Water the Iceland poppy each time the top 1 to 2 inches of soil becomes dry. Welsh poppy is Papaver Cambricum and is a tap-rooted perennial plant. It has light green leaves and bowl-shaped lemon-yellow or orange flowers 5 cm across that are produced from late spring to early autumn I have a number of these plants that I have grown on that are surplus to my requirements. They grow up to 50 cms tall. I can send out 3 of these plants by first class post with the plants trimmed back for £5.00 inclusive of postage and packing. The plants have been grown in pots. However to reduce postage costs the plants have been trimmed back and have had some compost removed from the roots. At this time of year this does not create any problems as bare rooted plants. The roots are then wrapped in clingfilm to keep them moist before they are sent out in a large padded envelope by Royal Mail first class post. Please see photographs to assess size of plants shown ready for posting and the padded envelope used. Note that the plants shown in the photograph are Welsh poppies. I am sadly selling my beloved pashley because I am moving to London from a house to a smaller property and I won't have room to store it. It's in perfect working order and recently has had its service. I've had it just over year. I got it from colchester cycle store in Essex and paid 600 for it.
