Black Cayuga and Khaki Cambell Drakes

We have some adorable young drakes for sale. Hatched mid June so are almost 5 months old. They have been raised by hand so are relatively tame. Initially once hatched raised in a rabbit cage in the house until large enough to free range outside in the sun. The only reason for selling is that we currently have too many drakes. Would make a great ornamental pet in the garden. They are quiet and love to forage for slugs and worms. Read More

17 WEEK OLD cayuga x khaki campbell ducks and drakes, 3

17 WEEK OLD cayuga x khaki campbell ducks and drakes, 3

3 ducks due to start laying at anytime and 4 drakes still young enough to be introduced to another female or kept as a pair with 1 of ours. Dad is a pure Cayuga and mum a pure bred khaki Campbell their breed is ideal for back gardens because they don't require a constant water supply just fresh drinking water available near their feed. A few times a week they will need a wash a suitable sized tub or bucket of fresh water is sufficient enough. They were incubator bred and handled often this has helped them to become more docile they will also eat from your hand when they've settled and used to you. We have 3 ducks 2 brown and 1 black with a touch of white under her beak the drakes are all the same colour of brown with the striking emerald green heads and curl to their waddle the ducks are due to start laying at anytime they are all going through their first "malt" with that and the bad weather they do look a bit scruffy but nothing a good wash wont sort. we know the 4 drakes will be less popular but please don't dismiss them because they are good company for the females by having 2 ducks and 1 drake of a different breed in our garden its been proved they are good company if not being used for breeding the 2 girls were shy and quiet when they were on their own when we introduced the drake it changed the 2 girls completely. If you are interested in any of the flock please see the prices below and contact us via mobile text or email, texting will get a much faster response. We can also deliver locally FOC again please contact us beforehand to check availability of transport and times. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HOUSING DUCKS AND ARE STILL LEARNING ABOUT THEM PLEASE REMEMBER ONLY 1 DRAKE IS SUTABLE TO SEVERAL GIRLS IF YOU ARE GOING TO INTRODUCE ANOTHER DRAKE WITH MORE GIRLS AND PLANNING ON KEEPING THEM ALTOGETHER SUPERVISING THEM FOR A WHILE TO SEE HOW THEY GET ON IS VITAL BECAUSE THE DRAKES MAY FIGHT FOR AUTHORITY AND WILL FIGHT UNTIL A SAD ENDING FOR 1 SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD NUMBER OF GIRLS TO 1 DRAKE.. 1 FEMALE - £20 1 DRAKE - £10 1 FEMALE AND 1 DRAKE - £23 2 FEMALE AND 1 DRAKE - £40

2 x 16 week old incubator hatched khaki x cayuga drakes

we are only advertising 2 of our drakes because we've already had people interested in the other 5 because this is not 100% they may still be available, please contact us to find out. 2 khaki x Cayuga drakes 16 weeks old have just developed their curl, there mum is pure khaki and dad pure Cayuga. The 2 drakes are from a flock of 7 we have another 2 drakes and 3 ducks all but 1 identical in colour they have a brown body and black neck and head with a metallic green shine 1 of the girls is black with a white front and slight green shine to head she has a bubbly personality and loves her bucket of water shes always the 1st duck to wash, don't be alarmed if shes still there 20 minutes later bobbing her head in and out that's normal for her ! we are very reluctant to let her go because of her nature and individuality (unfortunately we cant keep them all). Another duckling 1 of our drakes and the last egg to hatch after 12 hours of trying to break out he started to weaken and needed help, my dad had to break the last bit of shell, because of this he was very weak he had 'straddle leg' which we quickly rectified. Over the next few days his growth was a lot slower compared to the others and needed hand rearing whilst our 6 others thrived 'tiny' we named him continued being fed by hand Tiny started making progress feeding him chick crumb and cooked egg yolk he gained weight and strength continuing with the hand rearing for 2 weeks we introduced him back into the flock his tough start hasn't affected him in anyway he's just a bit more calmer with strangers than his brothers and sisters he's also 1st to feed from your hand. Because of their breed they don't need a pond just enough fresh water, a bucket full to wash every couple of days a separate container of fresh drinking water should always be available especially when they eat, ideally their food and water should be next to each other if they were to have water to swim on a children's paddling pool or a large low container is suitable the sides should be low enough for them to step onto before getting into the water, because of their webbed feet ducks cant walk up steps or anything steep. The ducks are now eating layers pellets, each morning they have a handful of dried mealworms and defrosted garden peas they also enjoy iceburg lettuce because they don't have teeth so therefore cant chew lettuce or any larger soft veg it should be cut up small fresh water will help them swallow food The breed of the duck means they are brilliant egg layers, when they are old enough and the right season you are guaranteed an egg a day per duck. Although most interest is for the females we've found the nature of our females tends to be much calmer when a drake is present, all our ducks and ducklings are also happy to take food from our hand. The prices for the ducklings vary - the 2 drakes advertised and our other 2 drakes are £15 each, the 2 ducks (females) are £20 and the black and white duck is £25 if you are interested in more than 2 please contact us for a discounted price, if you are unfamiliar with keeping ducks only 1 drake is suitable to approx. 8 females. 2 drakes with a few ducks will have drastic consequences. If you are sure you will be taking at least 1 home please bring a suitable sized carrier with you a large pet carrier or a box about the size of a small microwave with air holes pierced through should be suitable for 1-2 ducklings if someone is with you the box doesn't need a lid but needs to be deep enough for them to sit down high sides will also mean they can't jump out but not high enough so they can't see out (the ducks cant fly) if you are on your own it is recommended they are concealed inside the box with sufficient air holes. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED OR JUST WANT QUESTIONS ANSWERED PLEASE TEXT OR EMAIL, I WILL PROBABLY REPLY QUICKER BECAUSE I CANT ALWAYS ANSWER MY PHONE PLEASE BE PATIENT WHEN WAITING FOR A REPLY BECAUSE I WILL RESPOND ASAP.

Cayuga and Silver Appleyard Drakes

Six young (this summer's hatch) large fowl drakes for sale: - Four Cayugas, two with beautiful pure black colouring true to breed standard, two with some white speckles on their chests - One good standard Silver Appleyard - One white Silver Appleyard - he's a throwback to his Aylesbury genes so no good for breeding but a lovely looking boy, Jemima Puddleduck (drake?) style All bred here, raised on grass and growers, not very tame (although with a little bribery, I'm sure they soon would be) but used to being shut up at night and sharing a pen with chickens so easily integrated with other birds.
