A Biedermeier Style Flame Mahogany Secretaire Abattant Fitted Interior A C20th Biedermeier style flame mahogany Secretaire abattant, with fitted interior. The abattant is made from mahogany veneer, which has got a great colour and grain patination. The base section is formed with it being set with three full length drawers, each with brass handles on them. The chest has columns down either side with ebonized pieces inset into them. The base are raised on ebonized feet. The top section is formed with it being set with a top secret drawer. Again it has the columns down the side and it has the ebonized pieces inset into it. The front has the fall front which opens to reviel, the Fitted Interior. The interior is made from an Ash or maple veneered interior. It is set with four pigeon holes to the top and then it has eight smaller sized drawers. This is a great reproduction after the original. Size Height ” Width 41.5” Depth ” Condition The condition is very good, it has light scratches and scuffs. It has a small piece of ebonized wood missing, but hard to tell and it has a small piece reglued on the fall front. Read More

The corner cabinet is beautiful and elegantly designed and decorated with different framework & carving. Underneath the top is a single drawer lined with green fabric and with the original lock with working key. Behind the two doors there is a single shelf. The left door still bears the two original brass side slides. The lock of the right door was most likely replaced and has no key. The corner cabinet has some wear and discolourations. Presumably a tv once stood on it and the equipment was behind the door, considering the adjustments in the back wall. Click here to view this lot A 19th century chiffonniere made of oak & mahogany and glued with mahogany veneer, during the Dutch Biedermeier period about . The entire front is glued with very fine selected flower mahogany veneer. The dovetail drawers move smooth, they have their original locks with working key and have an inlaid brass key entry. The sides are made up of solid mahogany wood with a simple (flame) drawing, making it lighter in color and all the attention goes to the beautiful front. The sides showed slight shrinkage cracks and have been neatly filled in the passes and so they’re not bothersome anymore. The hood is decorated with different moldings and on the diagonally side frames there’s detailed carvings/volutes with a refined leaf motif. The chiffonniere rests at the front on his original but unusually shaped legs.
