Kurdish rugs are often very strong and compact, and therefore, extremely durable. For many rug specialists, the name Bidjar is a synonym for durability. The weavers use a heavy comb, made of metal and wood, at the weft and the knots, making the pile stand almost upright. This makes the surface of the pile very compact, which prevents gravel and other small particles from being pressed into the rug. The rugs are made with Turkish knots and are usually red and blue with beige elements. This is a very high-quality rug and it is sometimes referred to as 'the iron rug of Persia' because of its extremely long lifespan and durability. The rug is thick, very tight and heavy, and made of an excellent-quality wool. Please take the time to study the rug in detail and enjoy this work of art. Read more
