The outer shell and the lining can each be worn on their own or together and the lining itself is reversible to make a total of four ways to wear this jacket to give you just the protection and the temperature management you want for the current conditions and activity. The outer Gore-Tex shell provides an excellent first line of defence against the weather as it is waterproof and windproof. But it is also breathable so that perspiration can reach the outer surface to be dissipated into the atmosphere to enhance your comfort. Body heat can escape via the underarm ventilation zips. The peaked volume-adjustable hood is detachable or can be rolled away when not in use. The inner lining features Hydroloft 600-fill water-resistant insulation which is body-mapped so the amount of insulation is tailored to the needs of the various areas of the torso. One side of the lining has a wind-permeable surface and the other has a wind-resistant surface with both having a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish. Thus you can change how you wear this lining to match the kind of weather resistance and temperature control that suits you best at the time.
