Marlene Dumas - Maar wie ik ben gaat niemand wat aan - art
In the then still relatively unknown Marlene Dumas was invited for an art project with psychiatric patients, organised by the health authorities in Breda (NL). She had studied psychology for some years and was interested in the relationship between art and psychiatry. The project took about four years, and during that period she made a large number of works that are barely known today. In it was decided to document the project in a book. Hans den Hartog Jager wrote the text, and Marlene Dumas contributed with her own notes from that time. The result not only shows a little-known collection of works by Marlene Dumas in a crucial phase of her artist life, but is also a personal account of her experiences with the patients. The book has become extremely rare.GGZ Regio Breda, . Cardboard, in matching slipcase, cm, 160 pp, richly illustrated in colour.
