A Beautiful Vintage Colclough Bone China tea set 6 cups 6 saucers 6 plates History of The Colclough China Company The Colclough china company was founded in by Herbert Joseph Colclough, who was an ex-Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent. Mr Colclough was a very conscientious man who loved his pottery and was known on occasion to stay up all night next to his kilns, which he had packed, so that he could be the first to see the new designs when they emerged. After expanding his company, he moved to the Vale potteries in Longton and was honoured when in he was visited by King George V and Queen Mary who gave royal licence for the company to produce Royal Vale china. Colclough ChinaIn the 's Colclough China Limited was expanding fast and it was then that they started to produce the tea and dinner ware that we know today. They were the first company to produce fine bone china for the every day market which was marketed by the piece, ruling out the need for large sets to be purchased first. In , Colclough China Limited took over Booths and Adderley and then in the early 's merged with the Ridgeway Company. Colclough and Ridgeway became part of the Royal Doulton Group in the early 's. Rare Old Sevres Reproduction Vintage Antique Bone China Tea Set by Samuel Radford, Fenton, England

This is an antique, bone china reproduction Old Sevres tea set by Samuel Radford, Fenton, England. This is a really beautiful and exquisite tea set. There are 9 complete trio sets (tea cup, saucer and side plate) plus an extra 3 saucers and 3 side plates. Originally it would have been a complete set of 12 but I guess some cups got broken along the way. There are also 2 larger serving plates together with a sugar bowl and milk jug. I have taken a picture of the maker's details. This tea set is over 100 years old and would have been made between and . Having thoroughly researched the web I have not come across an identical tea set and so believe that this is quite rare and one of a kind. The condition of this tea set is in overall very good condition for its age. There is some fading of the gilding in places commensurate with its age and there are no hairline cracks I can see anywhere. I can only see 2 very small chips which are not noticeable when the set is placed on the table and I have photographed these but have run out of room to include them. One is on one of the serving plates on its underside edge (about 1mm) and the other is on the underside of the milk jug. The milk jug is the only item that has some mottling due to its age which you can see on the picture and apart from 1-2 with very minor stain at the bottom everything else is in really good order.
