Stunning Romanian kilim (2 sided) originated from Northern Moldavia (a region in Romania). 100 % hand woven wool and cotton thread are the natural fibres used to handmade this kilim. These gorgeous kilims were hand-woven and hand-dyed by two sisters (now grannies) in a small village in Northern Moldavia using the kilim technique. Apart from their decorative purpose (decorate the floor or walls), these were used as warm bed blankets. Long ago the kilims were traditionally made as gifts for family members and were often passed down through generations. Hand-woven rugs / kilims do more than decorate floors, walls or warm beds. They remain a constant reminder of bygone days and otherwise forgotten tradition. Age: 55 years Size: length 256 cm x width 80 cm or length 100" x 31" Excellent condition, no tear, stain or repair. Authentic NOMAD KILIM II

Authentic, old kilim from East Anatolia, from the first half of the 20th century, a so-called nomad kilim. These woven rugs were never very large, because of the limited size of the loom, due to the frequent relocations. Natural dyes were used to colour the wool. That is why the colours on the top of the rug, the side that was lived on, are a bit faded, and the bottom of the rug still has the bright colours. This kilim has a symmetrical layout with two squares, with typical Anatolian patterns woven inside and around these. It has two small damaged spots, that were not repaired.
