Aston & Mander Tailor's Guide

An antique boxwood Tailors Guide manufactured around by the renowned instrument makers Aston & Mander at their Old Compton Street address. This item is is made of polished boxwood with a folding brass hinge and is marked in inches (sub-divided into eighths). The longest leg of the guide is 24 inches and the shorter one 18 inches. When opened the guide becomes a right angle. Each wooden leg is bevelled along its' length. Both holding pins are present but here is a small amount of erosion (caused by previous usage) around the holding pin holes. There is a small slither of wood missing between the 5 and 6 inch markings of the shorter leg. On the reverse side of the longer leg are further imperial markings, but these are not the same as those on the top side (possibly some type of size markings?) The guide has one or two marks/stains commensurate with its undoubted age, but overall the condition is very good. Great quality mans black wool hunting jacket / riding coat. With wool checked lining, front pockets and internal pockets, front triple button fastening. Harry Hall, Mander and Allender make. Very high quality jacket which has been lightly used. Size, 44" chest, 25" sleeve length, 32" shoulder to hem length. Condition, generally good and clean. Has been lightly used, there is one small hole to the back shoulder as shown in second to last photo, this would need a small darn to repair it not a big job. Great jacket, with lots more wear left in it.
