s Brass Topaz Turtle 3 Piece Desk Set with Letter Opener

This wonderful piece is rather unique. It is meant to be on a desk top, hiding the magnifying glass turtle and the letter opener turtle inside. It can also be used as a trinket box if you so desire or any figural home dcor that you would like. Made from solid brass and looks beautiful. Perfect for any turtle-lover. It weighs almost one and a half pounds. It is adorned with amber coloured topaz jewels. The inside is a black flocked velvet material. The Large turtle and little turtle on its back are a total of 3" high, 5 1/2" long and 3 1/8" wide. The little magnifying glass turtle inside is 1/2" high and 2 1/2" long and 1 5/8" wide with the magnifying glass in the centre.

The binoculars are in lovely working condition, dark wood & brass with wear from use. There is also the following indented into the top of the case is what looks like Y.A. 788, maybe the officers initials/number ?. Although we may never know who the officer was, or what happened to him, the sights he must have seen through these, his binoculars & case remain over 100 years on.
