Antique Chair: William VI
Antique nursing/salon chair with spoon back and original tapestry. Walnut frame with carved floral decoration at the top, beautiful patina. The front two legs are carved and the back legs curve backwards, when I purchased the chair the antiques dealer who I purchased it off said something about the back two legs, I cant remember now what he said, but it was something about the chair being very rare based on the shape of the back legs. The tapestry is original, and it shows signs of wear in places, especially the seat, however it is still in far too good a condition to replace. At some stage the gold braiding was replaced, and it is loose in places and would need attention. This chair was sold to me as William VI, and the dealer assured me it was from that period, this style chair was also fashionable in the Victorian era. It has its original castors. This is an exceptionally beautiful piece of furniture, it has been sitting in my bedroom this last 2 years, to be honest it is not a piece that you would put it in a high traffic area, it would be better suited in a bedroom or hall, the walnut frame is as sturdy as the day it was made, but the tapestry is fragile. Pick up only, I am near Portadown/Tandragee. Call Sandra on 028 Ad ID:
