Antique / Victorian Rosewood Wardrobe / Cupboard / Armoire
We are selling this fabulous Victorian cupboard / wardrobe in beautiful rosewood. It features two bevelled mirror doors which open to reveal an interior, each fitted with hanging rail and shelf. The centre features cupboard with rail and shelf fixtures, shelves however missing. Under this are two smaller drawers and three full width drawers. The doors and drawers each have their original brass handles and are fitted with their original locks although keys not included. The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately
Width: 208cm (82in)
Depth: 51cm (20in)
Height: 193cm (76in)
The side cupboards are a good size – 59cm (23in) wide x 193cm (76in) high x 51cm (20in) deep. The central cupboard is 91cm (36in) wide x 81cm (32in) high x 51cm (20in) deep. The drawer section is 91cm (36in) wide x 102cm (40in) high x 51cm (20in) deep. For moving and delivery the wardrobe can and will be dismantled into seven parts – two cornices, four main sections and plinth. The cupboard is very solid and sturdy and has been a fantastic piece of storage, kept in our hallway and used for coats, hats, gloves, scarves, sportswear etc. It is in good condition for age however, there is some wear and tear commensurate with age – some grazing to the plinth and mottling of the mirrors. There is also some wear to the underneath of the plinth however, this is not visible in situ and does not detract from the visual appearance or the stability of the cupboard. For transportation and moving this bookcase splits into seven sections (three cornices, three main sections, plinth) Local collection is preferred however I am happy to assist the winning bidder with finding a suitable method of transport or courier if delivery is required. Please note, this is an antique. Antiques have long histories of daily use and as such, over time they can gain minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits, signs of old woodworm, lifts or losses to any veneer, which along with daily care and years of polishing go together to create individual character and patina. I have described the flaws that I am aware of – this is not a brand new and pristine looking piece of furniture, however it is a beautiful antique with great character!
