Hi there I have what is known as a Damper or back plate from an Victorian era fireplace. If the size is right for your opening it just slots in. It is made from solid cast iron. You can just use a wire brush to take some surface rust off and some metal paints actually paint straight over rust now. It has the Welsh motif on the plate. Collection only in Wells.
