Tunbridge Ware Box, c.. The outer of the box is made of the finest quality wood with burl veneer with two bands of geometric Tunbridge style banding inlaid with an outstanding assortment of specimen wood framing front and top of the box. Mother of pearl and abalone escutcheon and cartouche on a top lid. The box’s interior has been recently re-lined with a black velvet fabric. The box has a few scratches and dents see the photos, a few pieces of abalone and veneer are missing in places otherwise in a very good condition. The key is included, but lock is not working. Christmas - victorian Tunbridge ware-banded walnut Jewelry box

This is a genuine Victorian Tunbridge ware banded jewellery box. The exact date is not known and there is no date or makers mark that I can see. this box measures inches (30 cm). it is 5 inches tall with the lid shut, 8 inches deep. there is no significant damage to the marquetry, but there is some overall wear and tear on the box particularly the lid (See photograph). it also includes a insert for jewels although this box has been used for a sewing box. this box has recently been restored by a time served French polisher. lock and hinges are considered to be original, although it does come with a key, this is not the original key on the box does not lock or unlock with this key A beautiful box with a wonderful feel, great as a Christmas present for someone special if you are in Liverpool, feel free to come and view.
