(3 of 3 offered for sale) A in (35cm) turned wooden truncheon with grooved hand-grip, tapered shaft and rounded / weighted end intended for close-quarter use to subdue criminals and maintain public order. Unusual short length, probably part of issue equipment to a detective or female officer. Good overall condition with nice patina, numerous indentations and bruising to one side of main shaft, commensurate with age and use in service, probably caused by broken glass. Other side of shaft relatively unmarked. ounce (310g) in weight, complete with original 8.5 inch (21.5cm) Leather strap. ‘’ stamped on shaft. Rare collectors item not often seen at this short length.
