Lovely antique style yew writing desk/hall console. Currently used as a computer desk but is unfortunately too small for my needs. 3 drawers with fully working locks and 1 key. This is an old piece so is showing some wear in places, it has the following notable damage: - Some red felt marks on the top courtesy of my 2 year old, - Some bumps on the right hand side where the door had opened into the desk a few times, - Lastly, I have only recently noticed that there is a little bit of decorative wood missing from the front of the drawer on the right. Genuine antique Biedermeier console or card / gaming table

Highly collectible genuine Biedermeier antique console or card table with tapered legs. Believed to originate from s Austria made of pear veneers with maple inlays. It measures " wide x " deep as a console table, and when opened to a card table it measures " square. It is " high. Unfortunately it's in a rather sorry state. I know this would be an extremely valuable antique if it were in good condition (many thousands of pounds I gather) and I am hoping it might still be of some value to the right person who can do the necessary repairs to the veneers, or just enjoy using this lovely old card table. The family-owned company steadily expanded throughout the first half of the 20th century. In , Sibast’s children, Emma, Ole, and Helge, took the reins, and together they carried Sibast to international acclaim. According to Anna Sibast, great-granddaughter-in-law of the company’s founder, “Emma was in administration, taking care of the finances and the employees’ wellbeing. Ole played a big role in selling, for example, to Hilton Hotels and the White House, to name a few. And Helge was the driving force in the design and production side of the business.” In the postwar era, Sibast became one of Denmark’s largest producers of fine wood chairs, tables, and sideboards, celebrated for high quality craftsmanship and modernist silhouettes.
