A superb British made antique steamer trunk. Outstanding quality black painted metal with solid wood braces all round. A stunning original coppered interior. This is in completely original condition so has some dents and marks that all add to its character, full of life and history. Writing reads: H.F Tunbridge, c/o Miss D.Mason,501 New South Head RD,Double bay, Sydney,Australia. This could be used for storage (all catches and handles work),perhaps a blanket box at the foot of a bed. At the moment I have it stood on end and am using it as a lamp stand, endless possibilities. Storage Chest Blanket Toy Box Very large and striking looking rare steel trunk with unusual corrugated construction. I have never seen this design before. This is a very rare all steel trunk from the mid Victorian period and is in fantastic condition considering it’s age. Has a few knocks and scrapes but this all ads to the great patina. I cant find the makers name but on the front the trunk has a Patent number on a brass plaque. I have been told that the trunk could have originated in America and on searching on the internet found a similar trunk for sale but a bit smaller and at a cost of $. This trunk has been scrubbed clean and given a wax polish to the protect patina gained over the years. The inside is as original and has not been touched because it has newspaper from stuck to the bottom and I thought this was interesting, this can be easily removed. Now ready to store your vast array of objet d'art. A beautiful and functional piece of furniture with great character. For sale is this absolutely incredible 17th/18th century coffer. It's in amazing antique condition with the most beautiful genuine patina. I've cleaned the inside and given the outside a fresh coat of wax giving it a beautiful tactile finish. The condition is extremely good for its age. It has a very small amount of dormant worm holes at the back which are almost un noticeable. All in all its an amazing piece great condition and clean inside. Louis Vuitton Trunk - Orange Vuittonite This trunk dates from circa and considering its age and the extensive traveling it has endured the trunk is in great condition. The construction of the case consists of a strong wooden frame wrapped with the rare orange vuittonite canvass and finished with brown leather protective trims, and branded studs, clasps and latches. Both serial numbers can be found on the inside of the lid and below the main clasp. These can identify where and when the trunk was made. The Trunk was owned by C F A Pantin who we believe was a British Zoologist educated at Christ College Cambridge. Pantin was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society in and won the Royal medal in . He went on to become the president of the Marine Biological Association. More information can be found out about him on Wikipedia. Measurements Length - 101 cm Width - 53 cm Height - 34.5 cm This would make a wonderful coffee table or center piece for any room. Condition As can be expected from an antique trunk of this age there are marks and scuffs to both the fabric and the leather to the exterior of the case (Please study photos). The interior, although in great condition, is missing the internal tray and in one corner, on the underside of the lid, the fabric has come away due to a missing fabric pin. A solid wood shipping trunk. It was made during mid century Britain and used for storage and safe transportation of goods. It is of a sturdy construction and secured with iron clamps and hinges. The wood has not been sanded or refurbished and has therefore kept it's industrial feel and look. A family address is still on the back of the trunk from a trip to Italy.
