An interesting fact about Turkmen rugs especially ones belonging to the Tekke Bokhara tribes is that although all have so-called Elephant foot or Gul design, but amazingly not two are the same in both shapes and colours. One reason being the natural colours used in these wonderful rugs are not uniform and therefore shades of various colours called Abrash are created in which make each pattern looked unique.
