Welcome to Passion d'Orient:The city of Bergama is located in western Turkey, close to the Aegean coast, on the site of ancient Pergamum. Its carpets are knotted entirely in the highest-quality wool since the 15th century. One of their main characteristics is the abundance of weft passages, which can reach up to six per row of knots. The knots are symmetrical and of low density, the hems are of a flat type of 2-4 pairs of warps and and are wound up by the wefts. The edges often end with a wide band of kilim. The decoration of of Bergamas attest to their descent from the Anatolian carpets of the Classical age, in particular the carpets commonly defined as Holbein of large and small design.Manufacture: Hand-knotted.
