Elegant antique commode chair, with a white enamel bucket. Brought over from Germany where it has been in the family for generations. It may not have begun life as a commode chair and may have been adapted at some stage in its life, as commodes usually designed to 'hide' the view of the bowl from the from. The chair back has an interesting hand painted design feature (see close-up photo). Condition: There is a little historic woodworm holes to the seat, but no longer active. There are a few marks and scratches to the wood as to be expected of an item of this age and use, would benefit from a good polish. The enamel bucket has some knocks to the enamel underneath. Antique wheelback? chair in dark wood

Old chair no longer required by us. Would love to see it go to someone interested in this style of furniture. Not sure if it is a wheel back or a Windsor chair and would suspect it to be s or earlier. It has not been refurbished so has the original patina on the areas expected.
