Antique Pfaff Sewing Machines with Box Cover & Key – Circa Antique Pfaff Domestic Sewing Machine with its original wooden housing and key. Marked with the letter “K” and serial number “” this dates the machine to . The Machine looks in excellent order and seems to have all is original parts and the mechanism still works. Pfaff Sewing Machines were known the world over for their Engineering Excellence. Reliable and Durable, the Pfaff machines were one of the top selling domestic brands and many Antique Machines are still in working condition today, making them popular for serious collectors. Georg Michael Pfaff, a skilled engineer from Kaiserslautern in Germany, started his Engineering Company in and by , with great publicity fanfare, he sold his first sewing machine to a local boot maker, Jacob Peter. The wooden base, housing, key and lock to this machine are in very good order, with the wood having a good patina after it has been cleaned and polished, there are of course some scratching and small knocks to the surface and on one side some light paint marks. The Machine itself looks in great decorative and working order, with all parts still moving once the handle is turned, however I cannot say it moves freely and will need a full service and oiling. Given my limited knowledge, I cannot say if all the original parts are still with the machine and there seems to be a plate cover missing from the side of the needle head, but I do not know this for sure. Dimensions Overall Box Measurements: H 30 x W 49 x D 24 cm Weight: 16Kg Condition The piece is in very good condition for its use and age. This is a wonderful Antique French Gilt Figural 8 Day Movement Mantel Clock with the original key requiring a little tlc. The pendulum swings for a short while then stops so requires a little attention, probably a clean. There is a small repair to the gilt design to one side and a very small part on the opposite side has come away but not easily noticeable. The porcelain dial is enamelled with roman numerals but does show some small signs of age related wear as would be expected. The clock is approximately 30cm tall.
