A detailed and beautiful bronze bust.Signed on the right shoulder Jef Lambeaux. Normal signs of old-age. H 21 cmJef Lambeaux (Antwerp, 14 January - Brussels June ) was a Belgian sculptor. He could create a world in the sense of Till Eulenspiegel mixed with a Dionysian joy.Lambeaux studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp. He joined a group of young artists, led by Jan van Beers. They were a bit notorious for their eccentric behaviour, including walks in Antwerp dressed up in historical costumes. His first work, "War", was exhibited in . In Paris he made "The Beggar" and "The Kiss" (), considered as his masterpiece. During a visit to Italy, he was strongly impressed by Giambologna’s sculptures. Also marked with “Compagnie (Cie) des Bronzes, Bruxelles”.In the first quarter of the 20th century, the company from Brussels made bronze decorations inspired by Italian masters and others from the 15th and 16th centuries; nearly an imitation, but with a contemporary allure.
