Rosen var. Phocaea was one of the first cities of Asia Minor to mint currency in the second half of the seventh century or the first half of the sixth century before our era. The city, which eponymous symbol was the seal, struck an important coinage of electrum. The phoaic stallion radiated throughout the eastern Mediterranean. The city fell under Persian rule in 545 BC. After the revolt of Ionia in 499 BC and its terrible repression. Five years later, Phocaeus lost much of his importance. Miletus, in Minor Asia, capital of Ionia, was located a fewkilometres away from the Meander river (Büyük Menderes), close toborders of the Ancient region of Caria. Some legends attribute the foundation of this city to Miletus, son of Apollo.  The city of Miletus is famous due to the large number of colonies it created (more than seventy), especially on the Black Sea. It dominated the Mediterranean Sea for some time, and resisted against Alexander.
