NASA has found that it filters formaldehyde in the air very effectively so it is a good and beautiful plant to grow indoor. It grows best in moderate temperature and moderate light. It can be grown on floor or as a hanging plant. Pinch back the tips to grow bushier plants. A single English ivy plant can find many uses all round the garden. It can be used to cover a wall in shade where few other plants thrive, it can be trained to climb up or spread out along a low wall. Being evergreen, it is perfect for covering pergola poles, or creating a leafy backdrop under clematis and climbing roses that provides winter interest. Or use young plants to train around the outsides of winter hanging baskets. English ivy can be trimmed into shape at any time of year. Strawberry Begonia grows in a mound of rounded, scalloped leaves with decorative silvery veins. The leaves are hairy with burgundy-red undersides. Its most charming feature, though, are the long runners with plantlets dangling from the plant. Display it in a hanging basket to show them off. In its native habitats of China and Japan, it grows as a groundcover, spreading quickly by its runners that readily take root. This plant likes cool temperatures, but is frost-tender. Keep it cool and moist, and it makes an easy-care house plant. Sprays of tiny, white star-shaped flowers on tall stems may appear in summer. Repot in spring every couple years or when the roots fill the pot. Put it in a hanging pot to show off its trailing plantlets. Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent soggy soil. Direct sun can cause leaves to look faded or brown. Keep Saxifraga stolonifera out of strong summer sun. Crispy, shriveled leaves are often a sign that the air is too dry.
