She was built my myself and my build-partner at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis. Design: Gil Smith South Bay Catboat. Construction: Cold-moulded hull. 2x 3mm layers Marine Plywood sandwiched between 3mm veneers of Khaya Mahogany. Planking thickness: 12mm. Sheathed with Xynole for abrasion resistance and strength. Solid Oak centreline structure. A very strong boat built for longevity. Western Red Ceder planked decks and laminated Mahogany transom. Spars are made from Sitka Spruce for lightweight and strength. General: 'Lucille' is an ideal short-term project for someone who has the time and tools to finish her. She can be sailed or sold for a much higher value than listed here. She comes with: her newly-made mainsail, most of the of the wood, fittings, turning blocks and fastenings required to finish her, and her spars (mast, boom, and gaff) are all shaped and varnished. She also comes with a brand new trailer with flushing kit. The majority of the fittings are bronze, many of which have been custom-made for 'Lucille', and she has been built with the utmost care and attention to detail. She is a beautiful boat and needs a new owner to finish her and get her on the water. The reason I am selling Lucille is because I have finished the course and unfortunately no longer have the time to do the required work to get her completed. It comes with a part galvanised trailer and an inflatable punt-boat is also available to buy separately if required. The boat comes with main sail, genoa and storm jib which are all in good condition. The boat also comes with a 4 year old Parsun 4 outboard. The outboard has had very little use and was serviced last August and been been stored in a garage with the engine turned over since the service. I have purchased a NASA Clipper in hull echo sounder and have prepared the boat for this – this is included with the boat. The boat has been anti-fouled and has original GRP coat paint. The boat was taken out of the water from Bangor Marina in October and has since been stored out of the water at Newtownards Sailing Club. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to sail the boat over the last year. A new mooring was laid in Newtownards Sailing Club in June . Mooring components: train wheel, 6 metres steamer chain, 11 meters galvanised riser chain. Mooring has galvanised shackles and wire locked, mooring strop with marker buoy and lifting buoy made by Down Marine.
