The seats are formed with them having a curved dark Mahogany back which is upholstered and padded in a rich red velvet. The back of the seat has a central section also upholstered in the same red velvet. To the top of the back it has a polished wooden top rest. The bases of the seats are again upholstered and deeply padded in the same red velvet, but are wider than the normal seat of this age. The bottom of the seat has an oak base. The seats have a brass seat number attached onto them, which the buyer can choose to what I have available. The arm sections of the seat are made from cast iron, which has been painted gold at some point, which has now aged up giving a great look, and character to them. To the top of the arm it has a padded and upholstered arm rest. The seats date to around , and were removed from a cinema/theatre in Welwyn Garden City. The seats freestand fine, but can also be screwed to wooden runners or to the floor. We have a large quantity of these, so can make seats in rows of or whatever your after. A Row of Three Vintage Cs Art Deco Cinema Seats & Provenance REF104 Over 120 Seats Available, So Can Make Any Length Wanted, also end panels available if wanted for extra cost. A row of three original vintage Art Deco circa s cinema seats, with cast iron ends and full history. The seats are formed with each seat having a curved back, which is upholstered and padded in purple velvet. The bases all fold down and are also sprung and deeply padded in the same purple velvet, the seats bases are also weighted so fold up when you stand up. Each chair then has a decorative cast iron arm structure, which has an upholsted purple velvet arm rest on the top. All the cast iron sections have been painted in gold at some point which has now aged and now has paint chips and marks which adds to there character. I haven't listed these but I do have some of the original end panels if wanted for an extra cost with aisle letters of your choice. Each seat has then got a small seat number which can be chosen by the buyer to what i have. The seats can be easily adjusted to be made into different lengths and for ease of moving. The chairs were originally fitted into the State Cinema by independent operator Cumberland Cinemas Ltd in October it has changed hands many times since. It was later called the Ace-State cinema in Barkingside Ilford London. These seats can be made into any-size you want as i have a large quantity of them. These are real classy looking and very very comfy still after all these years, a real piece of cinema history. They easily split down into sections for ease of moving. There are Approx 50 rows of seats available. Condition The condition of the seats are very good due to age and useage. They have ware marks to the material which I believe gives them more character some have more ware marks than others but they are all in good condition for age. There are chips to the paint work, which i believe gives them character. The wood frame has marks and scratches as seen in images but the have been used for over 80 years. Inside the seat bases the foam has gone hard and started to misshape and feel a little powerdery. They make need new foam in the base although can be used as is. The seats are formed with each seat having a curved back, which is upholstered and padded in grey velvet with a kind of tartan pattern on it. The bases all fold down and are also sprung and deeply padded in the same velvet, the bases have the seat number fitted so they can be picked by the buyer to what I have. Each chair then has a painted metal arm structure, which has a padded arm rest. All the cast sections have been painted in black at some point which has now aged and now has paint chips and marks which adds to there character. The chairs were originally fitted into the Cinema in Porthmadog Wales, which has been a cinema, bingo hall and theatre but now has sadly closed down and is going to be redeveloped. Thought to be Utility or earlier, though possibly Italian, and have been in my family for approx. 50 years. Of classic design, both have tubular aluminium frames with attractive curved wooden arms / front legs (thought to be oak) similar to some Bauhaus designs. The frame of one has been repainted (green). The frame of the other is in original finish (dark brown). Both are light and sturdy and in very good condition, some new springs. For sale without cushions as both have been fitted recently with modern foam cushions and new upholstery, but do not have fire safety certificates. Overall width cms. Overall height cms.
