English Victorian silver matchboxes, William Neale & Son silversmiths, city of Sheffield, year , regularly stamped on the inside edge of the container and on the lid.It has square shape, it is etched with a “foliage” motif inside a small frame on both sides and has smooth edges; there is also a round cartouche with engraved initials W J H.On the lid there is the ring to attach the matchbox to a waistcoat.Dimensions cm 4.5 x cm 3.4 and 1 cm thick, and it weighs 36 gThe conditions are good considering the age and the use of the object, with some visible sign especially on smooth sides but normal considering it is over a century years old.The knurled bottom, that allows to rub and light the matches, is in good condition.
