Red Ramshorn Snails
These snails are excellent at eating most types algae off all aquarium furniture and plants and are also decorative in their own right. Some people use them to feed snail eating fish. They are quite easy to keep and breed but they do best in harder water and in Edinburgh water this usually means adding some mineral blocks, oyster shells etc. Once they've run out of algae, they'll happily eat fish flakes, cucumber algae flakes etc. 10 or so are a good start for a small, " tank.
