Handmade oriental rug. Antique Akstafa Kazakh, 406 x 73 cm,
Welcome to Passion d'Orient: The term Kazakh is used as a generic term for a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The nineteenth century Kazakhs were knotted entirely in wool, they were carpets with a long and shiny pile, and with large colourful geometric designs varying according to the production area. During the 20th century these beautiful colours and these, original decorative designs were rediscovered, still made from memory and passing down this great tradition over the centuries from mother to daughter. There is thus an increased appreciation of Caucasian carpets, andthey are now sought-after by enthusiasts and collectors, reaching outstanding prices and taking on a prime position in the panorama of oriental carpets.Manufacture: Hand-knotted Size: 300 x 150 cm Thickness: approximately 8 mm.
