Solid Oak Hand Painted Gate Leg Table and Six Chairs

I have stripped the old dark varnish from this vintage solid oak drop leaf dining table and hand painted it in Rust-Oleum Antique White, chalky finish furniture paint. It now looks stunning and would look fabulous in a period dining room. I have also finished the six dining chairs, also solid oak, in the same paint. I decided not to wax finish the paintwork, thereby making it a simple task if someone wishes to repaint in a different colour. The top has been sealed with Danish oil. The table measures 195cm long x 152 wide x 75cm high. When the two leafs are dropped the table measures 52cm wide. There is a split along the grain in the middle leaf, but we have clamped this and the table is completely solid. It is very heavy, as are the chairs. The cushions and covers are included. Solid wood dining table and six chairs, Attractive, good quality dining table with six matching chairs, two of them being carvers. I can't remember for certain what wood it is but from memory it's either cherry or alder I think. It's certainly hard and not easy to scratch like, say, pine. It's probably twenty years old but has been well looked after despite having served a growing family (and grandchildren!). Not perfect, but very good indeed. There is a noticeable scratch on it but it's not as noticeable as the photo makes out. Seats eight quite comfortably (although only six chairs) and we've had ten around it at times which is a bit of a squeeze but do-able! There is a clever mechanism for extending the table which you can see in the pics.No staining to the chair seats, all in all being in very good condition.The legs have been removed for ease of transport but go back on very easily.You're welcome to come and look - I'm about a mile off Junction 12 of the M1 in Bedfordshire. £, Dunstable, .
